Jaguar: X-Type 2.2 Diesel (2005-09)
State of the art: A hydraulically actuated release bearing that replaces the usual combination of clutch slave cylinder and clutch actuation. It offers more precise clutch control and significantly lower pedal force, even on competition clutches with multiple discs. Even though designed for sports use, many drivers choose to install this system into their classic cars.
The direct hydraulic actuation omits mechanical parts such as operating shaft and release fork. The clutch slave cylinder is removed from its standard position on the outside of the bell housing and replaced by the coaxial cylinder, which is mounted on a specially designed holder. The cylinder is bleeded conveniently from the outside.
The release bearing itself is a needle bearing. This lasts considerably longer than the original graphite bearing, even if you leave the foot on the clutch at the traffic lights.
The kits are supplied complete with assembly instructions and all required parts. Mechanical work on the bell housing is necessary.
