This Big Bore Kit consists of two aluminum cylinders with Nickel-Silicon Carbide coating (Motor-Niksil), two forged flat-head pistons with anti-friction coating, and a steel cylinder base plate.
Aluminum cylinders with a Motor-Niksil treatment are the best that one can ask in a top level engine tuning that combines performance, reliability and duration. It guarantees better thermal conductivity than a cast iron cylinder. This results in better cooling, which, especially in an air-cooled engine such as the Fiat twin-cylinder engine, provides a significant advantage. The cylinder wall with the Motor-Niksil treatment ensures better piston smoothness, reduced friction and less piston ring wear, all in favor of durability and consistent performance. Finally, by imparting special hardness to the cylinder wall, the Motor-Niksil treatment limits wear and helps maintain the nominal bore size over time.
Forged pistons were entirely designed and developed specifically for this application. The pistons were designed and developed specifically for the extreme performance of which this kit is capable: we were careful to select a high-silicon aluminum alloy to get a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and therefore these materials can hold much tighter mating tolerances between piston and cylinder. The Molybdenum Bisulfide anti-friction surface coating also ensures maximum smoothness and reduced friction to the benefit of our Kit's high performance.
This steel plate is noteworthy in that it is produced with laser cutting technology. The plate ensures precise installation, providing optimal squish and a stable support base for cylinders. The design phase is followed by various bench tests and then on the track to ensure compliance with our high standards of maximum performance, reliability and durability.
Specifically, a Fiat 126 engine prepared for speed hillclimbs using our 700cc Big Bore Kit recorded twice the performance increase over the original horsepower, a whopping 50 hp!
The result is a top-of-the-line kit, developed through our painstaking design process and the use of the latest technologies available in the construction process.
