This hard to find special hammer is made of tightly wrapped water buffalo hide, which is compressed three times under heavy hydraulic presses and then conditioned for several months in the form. Soft metals such as copper or brass can be machined with this mallet. It is often used in the forge, where the leather hammer can be used to gently straighten workpieces.
