Inlaattrechter
for Weber 40DCOE carburettors. Made from superlight aluminium with 30 mm fitted length and 60 mm bellmouth. Variant with bolt-on flange
Ram pipes for Weber DCOE carburettors are increasingly often seen in motorsport and competitions, and for good reasons. The air horn optimizes the flow of air streaming in front of the carburettor. The ram pipe allows tuning of the entire engine characteristics. Due to the parallel flow, the funnel has an influence on the speed range and thus on the power. A short funnel ensures low torque but high revving. The longer the funnel, the more torque the motor develops in the lower rev range, but at the same time the maximum possible RPM decreases.
Weber DCOE carburettors have a gap around the auxilary venturi that the ram pipe slides into.
This is how 99% of DCOE types work, but there are a few, very late, emission controlled carburettors such as fitted to Alfa Romeo and Peugeot, which are designed to use an airbox, not air horns.
