Praxishandbuch Oldtimer Elektrik
fundamentals, troubleshooting, maintenance. Written by Martin Thaddeus, 146 pages with 300 illustrations, size: 300 x 215 mm, binding: hardcover, language: German
This book provides clear and complete information for the classic enthusiast who wishes to service repair or improve any motor vehicle. The format allows the reader to take what he needs. The early chapters look at electricity and its properties, while the later look in detail at the various components." The cover proclaims, "Color throughout!" and indeed there is, helping breathe life into otherwise mundane components. Author Martin Thaddeus impresses me as the type of guy who would appreciate explaining the VW electrical design using the early Golf/Rabbit factory manual wiring diagrams. Those authors would fold up a yard of paper to prevent the diagram from having to cross a wire, and of course the wiring was reproduced in the factory colour. That was the only color in a totally grayscale book, as opposed to "Classic Car Electrics," where only drawings are black and white. The author does a credible job taking the novice through basic electric theory, system overviews, components and interconnection devices. Not model or make specific, the book gives great general information on making your old car's electrical system renewed and functional again. Every basic operation is covered from crimping to soldering, rebuilding components, and even renewing old instruments.I can heartily recommend this book to anyone considering restoring or even just repairing an older car of any make.
